January 3, 2007 Thank you!!! I have held the "callings" of
Choir Director for almost 2 years, and have been Music Chairman for about 6 months for our Church services. Since 2
years ago, I have been reaching out to different resources to get all the help I can! Even though I grew up around music,
it's always good to get new information, new ways of doing things. And more encouragement! Thank you AGAIN! Happy
New Year!

September 27, 2006. Stop WHINING! comment
from: "Blown Away" from "apparently in a good place."
Note from Start-A-Choir Producer:
Dear "Blown Away", Apparently
Start-A-Choir's aim hasn't been well-communicated to you. While repeated complaining without remedial action can
be called whining (and can be quite annoying), the intention of this website is both to identify the problems inherent
in creating and maintaining live music groups in a volunteer setting AND to find successful ways to fix those problems
while not "breaking" the church, the pastor, the singers or the music directors. I suspect that had you read more of the web
pages included on this site, you might have understood that. However, please accept my apologies for having given you
the errorneous impression that Start-A-Choir is just a bulletin board for gripe sessions.
TGFM, Evelyn, Start-A-Choir producer.

September 2, 2006.
In July 05, I started a choir which was meant to sing only
for the church's 7th year anniversary. The pastor enjoyed it so much, he wanted it to continue. I had no idea where to start.
So I thank you for this website. The information was extremely useful to me becoming a first-time director. Keep it coming!

July 22, 2006. Very nice site!

Hello,
I just want to say that the small congregation I attend really has been asking for a choir. My
priest asked me to direct the new choir recently and I was terrified at the thought. I don’t know anything about
directing although I do know how to play the piano and cello. After I went through your web site it really changed my mind
and now I am trying to get things together so that I can start this choir.
When I first saw this site maybe about a month ago I thought
I had run across a page that listed the things that were expected from a director as well as those things that were expected
from a choir (ex. Attending rehearsals, being on time). For some reason now I can’t find it. Was I imagining
this?
Thank you so much for such a great web site and
for your help with this.
Sincerely,
Andreana

No Andreana,
you didn't imagine it. See Singers' Page, Choir Directors' Articles, Get Started, Conductors' Tips, Techniques, Practical Hints, and Can I Direct? for more expectations than any one person, singer or director, can remember to do. TGFM, Evelyn

I'm so glad I found your site today! I'm
new in Richmond.
I've read some of the comments and have been experiencing some of the same things. People who have been in the church for
years think that [they] own it! I came led by God and on my arrival here I was told the church had been praying for "Minister
of Music"! Well, what is the old saying, (BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU PRAY FOR!) Well, they got just that. I stay prayed up because
the enemy is busy!

Feb. 21, 2006: Thank you for this helpful website. I
am starting a choir and was needing helpful info to start. This was just what I needed. Thank you so much. Darren

February 14, 2006: I just wanted to write and say thank you
so much for this website. About 6 months ago, I became one of the co-coordinators for my church's music program. Since
my colleague has absolutely no choir experience, I took what I learned from academy and we have resurrected our church's choir.
By the grace of God we were able to put together a wonderful Christmas program and we have now started on a program for the
Sabbath of Easter weekend. I have been looking all over the internet for more resources about working with a small church
choir. Thank you for providing the info on this website!

December 26, 2005: This site is extremely helpful and full of good
handouts for choirs. I love and will visit often.
Thanks! Monique Spence

December 8, 2005: Your web site is amazing. I looked all over the internet for days looking for something like this site.
It had everything I needed to make my church's choir better.
Thank you.

October 10, 2005. I have looked at the website some this morning and find it chock full of
nice little tidbits for neophyte choir leaders.
Keep making music there in your little corner of the world. May
the Lord give you his blessing from working on this ministry.

reading your site. May God continue to richly bless you and give you even more wisdom and knowledge.

August 2, 2005. I will be church organist/choir director beginning Sept. Not having directed
a choir for some years (but having been organist) I was looking for help and I am truly thankful for all the information obtained
from your site. This site certainly is exactly what I was looking for and I shall begin my new position with confidence.
Many thanks.

July 7, 2005, Loved the site and please feel free to quote me. Keep up the good work. Carrie Szermeta, Pennsylvania

June 8, 2005 Thank you so very much [for the Choir Starter Kit]. I am so grateful because although there are people in Guyana who are professionals etc., they do not take the time to help
the youths. So thank you. I pray God blesses you in your ministry, and with everything you set your hands to do.
Your Guyanese sister through Christ, Lianne Williams, Guyana

June 7, 2005. Thank you for
the music files. [FREE Choir Starter Kit] They will be very useful.
Esther Vivian, Australia.

April 8, 2005, How fascinating your music information is. I
will pass it along to other Christian musicians. All the best!
Janica Peppard, New York

April 5, 2005, Way to go! I am sharing your site
with many others. This is great. You are a blessing.

March 22, 2005, Awesome website! That is really impressive...

March 14, 2005, What an apropos note for me as I am the current choir director for Greeneville and
know so very little about it - especially "vocal skills." - The notes, timing, etc are not the problem that the "teaching
singing" is. So, I'll follow your web site with interest and look forward to having the time to sit down and browse
the whole thing. Lynda Nelson
Choir Director, Greeneville, TN

March 10, 2005, I love the opening page.
It feels warm and inviting. Some good and helpful information on the site, and I'll want to check it out more.
Too many colors of text and it's hard to read some of the colors on the secondary pages. Douglas Macomber

March 7, 2005, This looks good. Seems as if you've covered all the bases.

March 7, 2005 Thanks so much for sending us a link to your new website. It looks great and I'm sure
many music leaders will find what they need to get started as choir director.

March 2, 2005, I applaud your efforts to bring to
the forefront wholesome Christian music in a day and age where it is losing ground in the Adventist church. Small choirs are being replaced by "Praise Teams", which
is in it itself not a bad thing, but there is certainly room for both. In fact, both are needed in order to present a balanced
menu for those in our congregations with a variety of learning styles . . . multiple intelligences . . . or a myriad of other
names for "diversity". Keep up the good work. Feryl Harris

March 1, 2005, This
is great. I'm going to share this with the choir directors and "almost" choir directors in our area.

February 28, 2005. . .Your idea is an excellent
one, please feel free to use my quotes. If I can be of any assistance I'll be willing to help.
Keep me posted.

February 28, 2005
. . . Best wishes, I think you are on a most interesting project.
