There haven't been any SMALL choirs submitted for this page recently.
Several small choirs have been submitted and then haven't followed up with histories and pictures.  Are the preferred groups (small volunteer and almost-volunteer church choirs) are having as much trouble staying viable as my own group? (Rehearsal time conflicts and the gas crunch has put our group "on hold". Church and choir members have mentioned how much they miss it; they couldn't possibly miss it any more than I do.) The following compilation of anti-rules "How to Kill a Choir" addresses some of the problems that have plagued choirs that I know about. There must be others who are succeeding in keeping their small choirs "alive." Your advice is appreciated, Click here: Contact Us  and be sure to submit YOUR choir to be featured on this page.TGFM, Evelyn

Bangalore Chamber Choir  was founded in Jan 2006 by Pauline Warjri

Their choir story, by Pauline Warjri: "It started when a student of mine suggested I start a choir with a difference. She brought some of her friends to audition and soon the word spread around. I do workshops in schools and collges  and this is how other kids came along. The members are mostly college students  from different churches, students who have a passion for life, for God and for the music they sing. They are excited about every practice and although it is difficult to commute in the city they are doing well. They are very versatile and can sing many styles. We have had two small performances in two churches and a bigger one at a school that I used to teach in.We had to travel overnight for that. The experience was tremendous and brought so many people together. People were visibly moved. We plan to sing at schools, churches, concert halls, old age homes, hospitals- to spread a message of love and hope

"We do not sing only in one church and since we are a new choir we have not sung in more than two churhces. I do believe that God will touch many through our music."

What could help the choir function better? "More time. The members who are not taking voice lessons will attend group lessons. They need to work out their parts at home."

Has the choir helped the singers or the choir spiritually? "Absolutely. I have seen lives change. We have a time of prayer and sharing at the end of each practice. The music that we sing also has lessons for life and I talk about the things of God as we sing. It makes it more meaningful. One of the pre-requisites for joining the choir was an openness to singing mostly sacred music .The few who are not of the Christian faith are being touched by God.They are learning to pray and meditate and ask for prayer."

God bless Bangalore Chamber Choir,  their music, and their director  Pauline Warjri.
