The Chamber Academical Chorus “Renaissance”, from the Hrista Spasitelya Church in Yzhnoukrainsk, Nikoalev region, Ukraine is a medium-sized volunteer choir that is
also directed by a volunteer, Alexander Verezhinsky. While the choir has been in existence since 1996, its membership is still
building. They sing once or twice a year, and church service attendance is visibly increased on the days when the choir sings.
The choir members are people of different professions, but most of them are from personnel of the South Ukraine Power Nuclear
Plant.
Besides their performance and educational activity, the chorus
takes part in the charitable action of constructing the church in Yuzhnoukrainsk. While their director, Alexander Verezhinsky,
states that his members could probably be a bit more attentive during some rehearsals, otherwise attendance is good and most
of the members are at most rehearsals. (MANY volunteer choir directors would be delighted to have this level of participation.)
Congratulations to the Chamber Academical Chorus “Renaissance” and Alexander Verezhinsky and his predecessor(s)
for being able to keep a volunteer choir active for a whole decade!
